Isca Symposium - Making the Transition

On June 19th, 3.45 - 5.30pm, Isca Academy will be hosting a practice-sharing event for staff with local primary schools entitled ‘Making the Transition’. The aim will be to deepen our respective understanding of the transition process and consider together how we can make this as academically seamless as possible for Exeter students. This is a fantastic opportunity for teachers across the city to enhance their understanding of the primary curriculum, assessment and expectations as well as sharing with primary education colleagues similar information about KS3.  

Attendees from primary and secondary schools are asked to bring two or three examples of student work.

15:45         Welcome and refreshments

16:00        Presentation: Data –Planning for Progress -  Understanding Data KS2 to 4 and the Flight Path Model

                  Jon Lunn, Direction of Education Performance, Ted Wragg Multi-Academy Trust

16:15        Presentation: A Primary Perspective – Assessment and Learning in Year 6

                 Jeremy Davy, Assistant Head, Clyst Heath and Caroline Neal, Headteacher Exwick Heights

16:30        Presentation: Expectations of Learning and Progress in Year 7

                  Gary King, Deputy Headteacher –Teaching and Learning, Isca Academy

16:45         Practice-sharing Group Activity – The group sessions will be an opportunity for teachers to share and discuss examples   of students’ work, outline expectations at each Key Stage and to discuss common approaches to teaching and learning.  There will also be space to discuss any subject-specific issues around content and expectations should staff wish to.
