An interactive morning aimed to increase practitioner confidence in both planning, teaching and supporting phonics.

Course Objectives/Outcomes:

  • To secure understanding of how phonic knowledge supports early reading and writing
  • To provide practical strategies for teaching phonics to meet the needs of differing learning styles
  • To access phonic knowledge accurately 

Target audience: Teaching assistants supporting phonics in Reception and/or year 1 or working with older children to secure their age related expectations.

This course if not linked to any specific commercial product but relates to current DfE guidance and Ofsted best practice

Please note that your school budget share will be debited on ledger code 7926 up to two weeks prior to attendance at this course, in line with the cancellation policy.

Booking and Cancellation Policy

Course location, programme and any course materials will normally be sent to you prior to the start of the course. All cancellations must be sent in writing as soon as the applicant is aware that they are unable to attend. If the cancellation is received 6 weeks (or 30 working days) or more prior to the start of the course, cancellation will be free of charge. If the cancellation is received between 6 weeks and two weeks (10 working days) prior to the start of the course a cancellation charge of 50% of the course fee will apply. If the cancellation is received after this point a cancellation charge of 100% of the course fee will apply. Exeter Consortium has the right to amend or cancel any courses as a result of unforeseen circumstances.
