Our Plymouth Hub benefits from our partnerships with Marine Academy Primary and St Christopher's Multi Academy Trust, bringing together the expertise of two highly respected organisations in Plymouth.
At the heart of the Hub is Marine Academy Primary - a double Outstanding, inclusive and aspirational school where most face-to-face professional studies take place. Trainees also benefit from the expertise of the Hub team within the highly respected St Christopher's Multi Academy Trust, with some training delivered at St Matthew's CofE Primary School. Every aspect of the programme is practitioner-led, designed and delivered by experienced teachers and school leaders who understand the realities of today's primary classrooms. This ensures your training is relevant, practical and rooted in excellent teaching. |
📍 Did you know? Although our name is Exeter Consortium, our Plymouth Hub is based entirely in Plymouth. You’ll work towards a PGCE with the Ted Wragg Teacher Training Partnership, accredited by the University of Exeter (rated Outstanding by Ofsted for Teacher Training). No regular travel to Exeter is required - train locally, build relationships with Plymouth schools and begin your teaching career in the city. |

Primary (3-7) QTS with PGCE
'Apply' programme code - T186
This is a Plymouth school-based PGCE course designed for those wishing to specialise in the Early Years which spans pre-school, reception and Key Stage 1. Trainees are immersed in the Early Years with a placement in EYFS and another in KS1. Trainees have specific off-site training in Plymouth that is focused on the Foundation Stage, however to complement this, there is an enhanced programme of study where the trainees train alongside the 5-11 cohort covering the general professional studies programme (GPS) and the curriculum across Key Stages one and two. Those training on the Primary (3-7) course qualify to teach across the primary age range (5-11).
As a school-centred route, we pride ourselves on ensuring our trainees spend as much time in school as possible and focus their energies on teaching, not paperwork. After their Induction, trainees spend the first week of the term in school. This quick immersion into school life, integrated with training sessions at our training base, ensures trainees are able to swiftly start teaching under expert guidance, with time to reflect built into the programme.

You will be well prepared to teach across the full primary range as well as building your expertise in working with children with additional needs. Our partnership proudly sees this route as a recruitment pipeline of excellent teachers for our schools.
