Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

For individuals who do not rely on verbal language to express themselves, a range of Augmentative or Alternative Communication (AAC) systems can be used. The Devon AAC Intervention Service provides specialist Speech and Language Therapist input.

Therapeutic Services and Trauma Team

Beacon House is a team of professional, compassionate and highly experienced chartered psychologists, psychotherapists and occupational therapists. They provide a wide range of assessments and effective therapies for children and young people, families and adults who are experiencing mental health difficulties, emotional and behavioural problems and relationship conflict. As a service they have a special interest in repairing the effects of trauma and attachment disruption.

Autism Education Trust. The website includes extensive resources and advice to support effective education practice in the area of ASD. Access to the website is also a requirement for schools who are currently, and will be in the future, participating in the DEAP (Devon Enhanced Autism Programme). Access to resources are free, but professionals are required to sign up to receive a password to access the full site.

Call (Communication, Access, Literacy and Learning) Scotland helps children and young people across Scotland to overcome disability and barriers to learning created by their environment, and to fulfil their potential. The link will take you to a resource page which has posters and leaflets identifying useful ICT resources and apps which can support learners. Posters and leaflets are available for many platforms and for a range of learning barriers.
