Literacy Conference SW 2019

2/12/2019

The first Teaching Schools South West (TSSW) Literacy Conference took place on Friday 29th November at Exeter Racecourse. The day-long event saw over 100 delegates gather from across the south west to take part in a variety of inspiring workshops, targeted at both primary and secondary phases.

In addition to 16 workshops from regional and national literacy experts, delegates were also treated to 3 keynote speeches from Ruth Miskin CBE, Daisy Christodoulou and Lindsay Skinner.

The event proved to be a great success with delegates taking away practical solutions and philosophical approaches to the teaching of literacy. Free resources were also provided including a copy of 'Rosenshine’s Principles in Action’ by Tom Sherrington, courtesy of sponsors - Oxford University Press, Lexonik and Cornerstone Teaching School.

Presentations from the event can be accessed by clicking here.

‘I just wish I'd shut the school for the day and had all the team there - really valuable!’

‘It was a wonderful opportunity to be inspired by speakers who were enthused and passionate about their subject and communicated clearly and efficiently the key points that clearly had emerged from considerable hard work and study. Really helpful. Best CPD I have attended in a long time.’
